IMO: More O.J., Anyone?

O.J.Simpson returned to Miami after posting bail in a Las Vegas court. Is this situation LIVE or is it MEMOREX?

Re-winding the tape back to a little over a decade ago, we saw the same blank stare, the same huddle of lawyers, the same "I understand what you are saying your honor, but I really didn't do nothing" expression on his face. Simpson, the most vilified man in America, seems to be his own worst enemy.

The law says you are innocent until proven guilty, and the court did find him not guilty in a couple of cases (with the exception of pirating satellite service in which he had to pay a reported $60,000.) However in today's society, the court of public opinion seems to overpower the justice system, and some say he's being tried for murder all over again.

Basically, what they want is for O.J. to go away, and the Nevada Corrections Department is not a bad place for him to hang his hat for the rest of his life. Depending on which legal pundit you listen to or watch, the case could either go to trial or have a settlement in place before the trial start date. The one thing that is definite is that "Juice" and his gang of thieves are a stumbling, bumbling bunch that presents a picture of an imploding train wreck.

We need another O.J. trial like we need a pack of cigarettes. Although he is a cancer that affects everything wherever he goes, was he set up? Was he pushed to move in as though he had gangsta type of qualities when in reality he had no clue? Can he get a fair trial? Do we care?

What should we really do with O.J.?

First of all, let me say that "we", the media have decided to make this a big deal when we already have other pressing issues to worry about. I think that Howard Kurtz of the Washington Post has stated this quite clearly in his article in the washington Post Tuesday, saying that "Media Squeeze More Juice Out of O.J"

What else can we do when its not about Iraq or Briney Spears? Wait for OJ to make a mistake and then the media tries to hang him? I think that OJ is a bone head because given his past sins, he should have a job and be working somewhere and not wasting his days in Vegas. While i don't want America to crucify this guy when he has not been found guilty yet, i also think that OJ should really go to jail and learn the hard way.

CAN'T SEE WHY MANY FEEL OJ . SHOULD GO TO JAIL. LOOK AT THE MANY BLACK YOUNG MALES WHOSE IN PRISON CAUSE OF LIES AND SET UP. I PRAY FOR OJ. JUST AS ALL OF US SHOULD . WE SHOULD LOOK AT IT THIS WAY. WE COULD BE THAT OJ. THE WAY THE WORLD FIGHT AGAINST BLACKS . JUST AS IT HAPPENS TO OJ AND MANY OTHERS IT CAN HAPPEN TO US . THINK PEOPLE THINK

George, I agree, the media certainly drives this train and we must understand why this guy continues to be a story. So many people felt that even with overwhelming evidence, O.J. got off. Blacks looked at it as a victory of sorts because here was a Black man who actually beat the justice system. White America was shocked beyond belief and will always feel that, regardless of the verdict, Juice should be in jail.

Although society says in public that the exploits of the rich and famous are of no real concern to the little people, the rich and famous are always under a magnifying glass and the media is the conduit that pushes the buttons. The stories in the press also feed the egos of the rich and famous, and to some of them negative press is better than no press.

O.J. has a problem in which he believes he can do what he wants, when he wants and as often as he likes. The public has a voracious appetite for the negative trials and tribulations of celebrities. They blame the media for reporting the stories (and the media sink their teeth into it because they know the public wants to know the details) however, in O.J.'s case, since he continues to place obstacles in his way to a more productive and positive life, maybe a little tough love could be just the ticket.

Anonymous,

Many people continue to feel that O.J. should go to jail because he continues to break the law.

On the surface, this man has dodged a huge bullet, and got a second chance and he is doing nothing with it. I agree that there are so many brothers and sisters who are innocent, serving time in prison, and thank GOD for law students and DNA projects that work to free them. However, should we feel sorry for a man who is far removed from everyday life, a man who has a pension of over two million dollars, receives 400-thousand dollars a year and steals satellite service? A man who surrounds himself with unsavory characters, sets up off-shore accounts to conceal money and never takes responsibility for his actions? The worst thing we can do is give O.J. the time of day.

Remember it's all about perception. We can only be O.J. if we allow ourselves to live in a narcissistic world as he does.
